As a 13 year old kid, my first job was selling high-end hifi equipment on an army base in Germany. Every penny I earned went right back into that store to buy gear - most of which I still own today. The final component was a reel to reel player. I had saved up about half of what I needed to buy one when my father got orders to return to the US, dashing my plans to get that deck.
Fast forward 40 years. I finally got around to getting that deck. It is the crown jewel in my 2-channel, analog system that I had been assembling for years. I loved the look, feel and sound of the tubes, the tape, the vinyl. There was only one thing that seemed out of sorts. It was the reels...
My system is my pride and joy. It is a focal point of our living room. The deck is the focal point of the system and the reels are the focal point of the deck. But they were just so, plain. I purchased anodized reels to try to add some refinement but finally I thought, why don’t I make my own? Seven months later, we launched RX Reels!
